The first version of PMS was developed in 2014 - 15 in a collaboration between Insero and Strategirummet. The goal was to create a learning tool that gave students hands-on experience with the electricity market. PMS-Scenario was developed in a collaboration between the University of Southern Denmark and Strategirummet, partly funded by the Smart Energy pool. The basis for PMS-Experimental was created as a bachelor's project carried out by IT students who were employed as student assistants in Strategirummet.

PMS started as a learning tool, and has today been further developed to be an analysis tool on par with Balmorel, Times, BID3, etc.

PMS is owned by Strategirummet, where Flemming Nissen is the director, and where there are 2 student assistants and 2 external consultants who further develop the model. The model is hosted by the IT company Illumi.

Flemming Nissen has been director of business development and R&D at Elsam and Dong Energy. He has extensive experience in developing and using advanced analysis models within the energy field.
