Power Market Simulator

The Power Market Simulator model (PMS) can be compared to Balmorel, Times, BID3, Ramses, etc. However, it differs primarily in three areas:

It started as a learning tool and subsequently developed into an analysis model. It is therefore very user-friendly. It is used, among other things, in basic courses in the electricity market
The scenario version (PMS-Scenario) does not only expand with the most economical plants. It represents a reality where investors establish a robust portfolio of technologies, which of course must yield a profit. PMS-Scenario has been developed in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark
In the Experimental version (PMS-Experimental), users can divide existing bid zones themselves and analyze how this affects the electricity market. It can also handle Flow Based markets in a simplified version, taking into account the actual flows between the bidding zones

The target group of PMS is companies and students who need knowledge about how the electricity market may develop in the future, but do not have the significant analysis resources required to run the other major analysis models. A community has been created on LinkedIn of PMS users who exchange experiences with the model and with various analyses (Power Market Simulator Community). Everyone is welcome to participate.

PMS-Education is free to use, you just have to register.

The prices for licenses for the other versions are 15 - 100 Euros per month depending on the PMS version, the number of licenses purchased and the duration of the licenses.

Although we have tried to make some educational videos that explain how to use the different versions of PMS, you may of course find yourself in a situation where you do not know how to get started or proceed with a calculation.
