Data and Model
The Power Market Simulator is fundamentally no different from the other major market analysis tools (Balmorel, Times, etc.). It uses data from official sources, and it optimizes the production and consumption distribution by minimizing an object function with a number of conditions. The difference is that it is established as a learning and dissemination tool, and is therefore much more user-friendly than the other models.
In the videos below, you can see where the data used in the Power Market Simulator comes from and their references. The first 3 videos about data is part of the online course: "Hands-on experience with the electricity market". This course is available in its full version on another page on this platform. In addition, there is a video that describes how missing data from the data supplier "Enerdata" is estimated.
There are also two videos that describe the investment modul in PMS and the area division model. The videos are intended for those who want knowledge about how PMS calculates future investments in new electricity production units and how PMS can subdivide price areas.
